Private Instrumental Teacher’s Scheme

March 2nd, 2009

Hello,

I would like you to read over the proposals below and consider whether or not you are interested in being a part of our new scheme aimed at private instrumental teachers. Please read on:

The aim of the scheme is to create an arrangement between BANDSKOOL and private instrumental teachers that can benefit all concerned including you and your students.

BANDSKOOL is in the business of putting young bands (11 – 19) together from students living all around Greater Manchester and the surrounding counties. Our main focus is on band mentoring and providing opportunities to develop band related skills within a band context through rehearsals, live concerts and professional recording sessions.

BANDSKOOL has previously worked with a number of instrumental teachers who have helped to get bands ready for those all important concerts and recordings. In the past these teachers have made an important contribution to our preparations by working alongside our band mentors. When everyone is working towards a common objective then great results happen! Now BANDSKOOL is hoping to develop the relationship further through the implementation of our new scheme. This is a scheme that allows a greater number of instrumental teachers to be involved from all over the North West region.

Here’s how it works:

If you have students aged between 11 and 19 that you think may be interested in applying what they have been taught to a group context then we would like you to approach them about the possibility of joining our band sessions on Saturdays. If they join our band sessions then they will be entitled to a 20% discount on their private instrumental lessons with you. But don’t worry – we will refund your lost revenue in advance of ten lessons (the duration of our terms). So for example, if your hourly rate is £20 – then you will charge the student £16. You will then invoice BANDSKOOL and we will reimburse you the difference across ten lessons: namely £40. Upon receiving a paper or email invoice we will transfer the money across to your bank account online. We will be able to do this right at the start of term because our students must pay for a term in advance of the start. As you can see, you are not losing any money from your private lessons. But why should you participate? For the following reasons:

  • Your private lessons will be 20% less for some of your students.
  • Your students will be able to apply the knowledge and skills you have taught them to a real life situation. Furthermore, you will be able to witness their development by attending our end of term concerts.
  • As a participant in our scheme we will do what we can to promote your business. Your profile will be on our websites along with appropriate links. And all prospective instrumental students that contact BANDSKOOL about lessons will be steered in your direction.

This scheme will allow all private teachers to work from their usual premises (home etc) in accordance with their normal work patterns. However, there is also scope for teachers to work on our premises on Saturdays.

Please note that BANDSKOOL works on a three-term-a-year basis with each term lasting ten weeks. Therefore, outside of our terms you would revert back to a normal arrangement with your students.

BANDSKOOL’S intention would be to encourage good communications between all instrumental teachers taking part in the scheme and our band mentors. This would most likely be some form of internet communication, texting or perhaps the occasional phone call. As said already, when everyone is working together then great results can happen!

However, please be aware that we are not interested in just accepting the interest of anyone that claims to be an instrumental teacher! There will be a vetting procedure – especially given the fact that we will be endorsing your business on our website! All terms and conditions will be outlined after you have indicated your interest in taking this further.

I hope you will give it some consideration. There is nothing to be lost from taking part in this and everything to be gained both for you and your students. And BANDSKOOL will have what it needs to continue: a steady supply of young musicians willing to take things to the next level!

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
