Popular Music Theory classes

07/13/10
Posted by: andrew

From September/October 2010, we will be running Popular Music Theory classes on weekday evenings (Monday to Thursday). These will be run from various sites around South Manchester and Cheshire and will be open to all ages. The aim is to equip musicians with the knowledge they need to improvise and compose within the popular music sector. The idea is that the theory classes will compliment the classes we run on Saturday daytimes; and will mean that Saturday classes can concentrate on the doing (writing, rehearsing, improvising etc) rather than the theory. The syllabus comes from the London College of Music:

level 1: beginner: grades 1 and 2

level 2: intermediate: grades 3, 4 and 5

level 3: advanced: grades 6, 7 and 8

Learn all about the most important scales and chord types, rhythm notation and the relationship between scales and harmony. You will also learn about the history of Popular Music and its artists.

Note: Exams will be offered though these are optional.

Come back later to find out where your nearest classes will take place. In the meantime, put yourself on our mailing list.
