Julie Peat
Julie Peat is currently studying for a Master of Music in Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she is taught cello by Eduardo Vassallo. During her gap year she enrolled on a course specialising in performance at the Royal Academy of Music and then pursued an undergraduate degree in Music at Worcester College, Oxford. Throughout her performing life she has enjoyed playing orchestral, solo and chamber music. She has participated in various national orchestras including the National Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Sinfornia (in which she was appointed Principal Cellist in 2001/02) and the National Children's Orchestra. Two years ago she was awarded a place on the Oxford Philomusica's Apprenticeship Scheme playing in a number of their concerts.
Julie has participated in numerous concerts, summer schools and music courses, performing in venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Barbican Centre, Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Snape Maltings, the Holywell Room, the Sheldonian Theatre and the Royal Albert Hall (performing in the BBC Proms). She has also performed in master classes given by distinguished cellists such as Colin Carr, Emma Ferrand, Stephen Doane, Robert Cohen, Alexander Baillie, Tim Hugh and Ralph Kirshbaum.
Although classically trained, Julie enjoys playing a wide range of music from classical to more popular styles. Recently she has been performing with a variety of bands as part of a collaboration project between RNCM and Seed Studios. Julie looks forward to working with bandskool providing musical training that accomodates the individual needs of the pupils.
