Leo Stanfield

Leo discovered his passion for drumming during his school years whilst successfully completing grades one to eight for the drum kit; and thus becoming determined to achieve a career as a professional drummer. Following school he attended the British Academy of New Music in London and completed the 'Session Musician Course'. Leo was taught extensively by Steve Washington and graduated with a 1st and an ATCL (Associate of Trinity College London) approved and presented to him by Sir George Martin (The Beatles producer).

To further his musical knowledge and ability, Leo attended the University of Salford to complete a BA Honours is Popular Music graduating with a 2.1. Throughout his time at University he was fortunate enough to be taught by Dave Hassel. At the age of 23, Leo is currently a resident drum teacher at MANCAT (Manchester College of Arts and Technology) and here at bandskool. Recently his band, State Warning' have supported The Who at the Knowsley Hall Festival and performed numerous gigs alongside bands such as McFly, The Thrills, The View and Joss Stone.

 

Leo specialises in all aspects of drumming and openly welcomes all levels of players believing that the ability to read and understand music should be an integral part of his lessons. An optional course is available involving the Rockschool syllabus from grades 1 through to 8; as well as certain aspects of showmanship for those that are interested. So....'Get involved!'
