K Michael

K Michael is a formidable all-round composer. From pop-tunes to full orchestral film scores, K has tremendous aptitude for original composition and the delivery of his pieces. For the past 6 years K has been learning his trade up to Master’s level at Salford University while also making a positive impact on young people from his position as project leader for the Royal Northern College of Music ‘Aim Higher’ scheme.

Qualifications and credentials:

  • Master in Composition at the University of Salford.
  • Bachelor of Arts Honours in Popular Music & Recording at the University of Salford.
  • Music Project Leader for Aim-Higher at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).
  • First instrument: Guitar
  • Second: Piano
  • Knowledge on the abilities and ranges of most contemporary and classical instruments.

Professional Performance Experience:

"My musical expertise lies in popular music, anything from Metal/Rock to Pop/Electro. In my own work I generally tend to steer towards the more progressive versions of these styles. I have been involved in three fairly successful groups on the local Manchester scene. I have been the active leader in all these bands, whilst also being the main songwriter."

"Compositionally I try my hand at any style. I have worked on various film projects, from documentaries to opening film sequences. I have also written some instrumental pieces of music in which I have applied my influences to create a fusion of contemporary and classical sounds. Currently working with various Manchester based vocalists on a string of pop songs and continuously working on new material. I have so far in my portfolio over 100 compositions, in many styles but mainly in the pop/rock genres. I have my own studio space at the Polygon studios in Eccles where I work on various projects."
